Three things have genuinely changed in Plarium's favor for new accounts over the last 18 months:

  • New player bonuses are much more generous. A fresh account in 2026 gets access to a starter pack (via link codes) that includes an Epic champion roster most veterans took months to build
  • The Arbiter Missions are better signposted. Progress Missions now work as a clearer tutorial instead of a mystery grind
  • Faction Wars and Doom Tower are no longer gated behind impossible walls. Both modes have had their early stages rebalanced

Translation: the worst era for starting RAID was 2021–2023. Starting in 2026 is fine. You just need to spend your first week making the right choices.

Starter Champion: Pick Kael (Here's the Math)

The game opens by asking you to choose between four Rare champions: Kael, Athel, Elhain, or Galek. Every starter has community defenders, but the objectively correct pick is Kael — and the reasoning matters because it shapes your first three dungeons.

Why Kael Wins Long-Term

Kael's A3 skill, Disintegrate, applies a stackable Poison debuff that deals damage based on the enemy's maximum HP. This is the single most important mechanic in early-to-mid game RAID:

  • Poison scales against every boss in the game. Fire Knight, Dragon, Ice Golem, Spider — all of them
  • It ignores enemy defense entirely
  • It becomes your bridge to Clan Boss, the single biggest resource source in the game

Kael's A2 (Acid Rain) also has a 15% Critical Rate boost — the same shared starter passive — but it's the only starter AoE that pairs with scalable boss damage.

If you picked another starter already: don't panic or reroll. Every starter can clear early-to-mid content. But if you're on the character creation screen right now, pick Kael.

The First 48 Hours — Do These 5 Things

This is the high-value window. Everything you do here has a multiplied effect on months 2–6 of your account.

1. Start the Campaign and Don't Touch Dungeons

The Campaign is your only priority for the first two days. Not dungeons, not Arena, not Faction Wars — just Campaign on Normal difficulty.

Your near-term target is Chapter 12-3 on Brutal difficulty. Long-term RAID accounts still use 12-3 Brutal as their main XP farming stage years later. Every stage cleared on the way there gives you permanent rewards, gear, and Shards.

2. Claim Every Daily Login Reward

The daily login calendar is not decoration. Day 30 rewards you with a guaranteed Legendary or high-tier Epic champion — and some of them (like Scyl of the Drakes) are account-defining. Scyl alone provides AoE healing, revive, and a team stun.

Set a phone reminder. Miss no daily.

3. Redeem New Player Promo Codes Immediately

Plarium releases codes for new accounts that grant specific free Epic champions plus substantial starter resources. You can only redeem one new-player code per account, so choose based on where you want to focus:

  • Clan Boss focus: Prioritize a code granting Demytha (enables Unkillable strategies) or doubling down on Kael (Poison damage)
  • Dungeon farming focus: Look for codes granting Coldheart, Alure (Fire Knight), or Bellower (wave clear)
  • Arena focus: Codes granting Seeker (30% Turn Meter boost lead) are top-tier

These codes expire and rotate, so check in-game within your first session.

4. Join a Clan Before You Hit Level 15

This is the single most-skipped early decision. Clans unlock the Clan Boss — the most important source of Shards and books in the entire game. A clan that kills Ultra-Nightmare Clan Boss daily can feed your account months of progression materials.

Look for clans labeled "UNM daily" or "15-day Cup" in their descriptions. Don't join the first one that invites you.

5. Complete Arbiter Part 1 in the First Week

Arbiter is the reward for completing the Progress Missions — a structured tutorial disguised as a four-part mission chain. Part 1 is the onboarding layer and is designed to be cleared in your first week.

Don't skip Progress Missions. They're not optional tasks — they're the roadmap to your first Legendary champion and hundreds of thousands of Silver, books, and Shards along the way.

The Resource Traps That Quietly Kill New Accounts

This is where 70% of day-7 players go wrong. Every one of these mistakes is reversible, but all of them cost weeks of progress to recover from.

Trap 1: Upgrading Gear Past +12 on Gray or Green Items

Gear upgrading becomes exponentially expensive after +12. Most gray and green (Common and Uncommon) gear should never go past +8. Reserve +16 upgrades for Blue (Rare) or better gear with correct primary stats (Speed boots, ATK% or HP% chest, Crit stats on gloves).

Rule of thumb: Only push a piece to +16 if it's needed to unlock a specific Progress Mission.

Trap 2: Ranking Up Champions Without a Plan

Each star level requires sacrificing champions of equal rank. Players rush ranking up rare champions using other rares as fodder — and then wish they had that fodder back three weeks later.

Use commons (white) and uncommons (green) from Mystery Shards as fodder for ranking up. Save rares for strategic fusions and events.

Trap 3: Trying to Play Every Mode at Once

Early accounts that try to push Arena, Faction Wars, Doom Tower, and Dungeons simultaneously end up with five half-built champions and zero clear wins. One well-built champion is worth five underfed ones.

Your priority order:

  1. Get Kael to 6-star and fully ascended
  2. Build a Clan Boss team (Kael + healer + debuffer + damage)
  3. Start farming Dragon 20 for gear
  4. Push Fire Knight for Lifesteal gear
  5. Then touch Arena seriously

Trap 4: Ignoring Masteries

Masteries are passive skill trees unlocked through the Minotaur's Labyrinth. They can increase a champion's effective damage output by 30–50%. A 6-star Kael with no masteries underperforms a 5-star Kael with masteries.

Grind the Minotaur as soon as you can reliably clear Stage 10. Full masteries cost 800 Gems if you want to skip the grind, but most F2P players farm them instead.

Trap 5: Spending Gems on Energy Refills

The single worst Gems sink for new accounts. Gems are better spent on:

  • Arena refill (50 Gems) — fastest way to climb Arena tiers for Medals
  • Mastery Scrolls — major damage increase
