What Changed Across All Three Patches This Week
For context on how fast Pearl Abyss is moving:
| Patch | Date | Focus |
|---|---|---|
| 1.04.00 | April 23 | Hard Mode, pets, inventory overhaul (37.2 GB) |
| 1.04.01 | April 23 | Emergency pet and controller fixes |
| 1.04.02 | April 24 | UI, difficulty bug, PS5 Pro, camp improvements |
The 1.04.00 megapatch introduced difficulty settings and caused several new bugs within hours. Both hotfixes address those new issues directly.
Known Bugs Still Open After 1.04.02
Pearl Abyss has publicly acknowledged these issues and is actively working on fixes:
- Intel Arc A770: Game crashes when using XeSS — Intel XeSS 3.0 and Intel XeSS Frame Generation also cause display problems on Arc A-series cards
- NVIDIA GTX 1060: Enabling FSR Upscaling and Frame Generation simultaneously causes a white screen
- ROG Xbox Ally X: Game fails to launch on the latest driver version. Workaround: roll back to the previous driver from the ASUS website until Microsoft and AMD resolve the issue
- Mac App Store: Some patches still arriving later than other platforms
If you are running an Arc GPU, disable XeSS entirely until the fix ships. GTX 1060 users should leave Frame Generation off for now.
Is Crimson Desert Worth Playing Now?
The patch cadence from Pearl Abyss has been one of the fastest of any major 2026 release. Three patches in two days is a strong signal that the studio is treating post-launch seriously. Steam reviews have continued to trend positively through all three patches.
If you were waiting for stability before starting, 1.04.02 addresses the most disruptive issues from the big difficulty update. The game is in a better state today than it was 48 hours ago.
